Validation of projects relies on ground measurements, which if used as the only approach is slow, expensive, infrequent and unrepresentative.This is why the average size of certified projects is 500 hectares belonging to large commercial farms with low additionally of carbon removals. Certifying a project with Verra or Gold Standard requires costs of around 100-200 k euro with the need to produce complex and extensive documentation of more than 200-300 pages.
